Zachary Levi has some life-changing news to share—he’s going to be a dad!
The 44-year-old actor, known for his roles in Shazam! and Harold and the Purple Crayon, took to Instagram to announce that he and his girlfriend, Maggie Keating, are expecting their first child together. The joyful announcement comes amidst some unrelated drama involving his former Broadway co-star, Laura Benanti, who made headlines with her harsh criticism of Zachary over his recent comments about their late co-star Gavin Creel. But Zachary’s focus is firmly on the future and the exciting chapter ahead.
In his heartfelt Instagram post, Zachary opened up about his journey toward fatherhood and what this milestone means to him. “I’ve wanted to be a dad since I was literally a kid. I’ve always felt that call on my life. This desire in my heart. A strange feeling of incompleteness by not having that level of love and responsibility in my journey. That the best years of my life would be on the other side of finally being a father,” he shared.
However, Zachary admitted that he knew he had some personal growth to tackle before stepping into this new role. “But deep down I knew that there were things in my life that needed to shift before I was ready for the blessing of something so special and the responsibilities that come with it.”
Last year, Zachary decided to make significant changes in his life, focusing on self-love and personal development. “So last November I started to make some shifts in my life. Shifts that ultimately came down to loving and valuing myself more. Prioritizing my own health physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. And lo and behold, immediately things started to manifest for the better,” he explained.
One of those manifestations was meeting Maggie Keating, whom Zachary described as a “brilliant, honest, grounded, and deep love.” He shared how their connection has been transformative for both of them. “Very quickly God brought a brilliant, honest, grounded, and deep love into my life thru the angelic form of @maggiekeating. A wonderful woman on the same journey of self-discovery and love, ready to step into a new and amazing chapter of life with me. So, we did. 🥰”
Zachary also shared his excitement about becoming a parent and teased that the couple is waiting until the birth to find out their baby’s sex. “We can’t wait for y’all to meet our little bambino. We’re waiting until the birth to know the sex, but I’ll be stoked out of my mind either way,” he wrote.
And of course, Zachary’s trademark humour shone through when he added a lighthearted note about baby names: “Always accepting potential baby names. Keep ‘em original, but not TOO original. We don’t need them being bullied more than their theatre-nerd father. 🤓”
As Zachary and Maggie prepare for this exciting new adventure, fans are thrilled to see the actor embrace the journey with such openness, love, and positivity. Congratulations to the parents-to-be!
