It appears Britney Spears is not a fan of the documentaries coming out about her life.

This year alone, the 39-year-old popstar has been the subject of FOUR documentaries – three of them released over the past week.

In February, FX and Hulu released The New York Times Presents Framing Britney Spears; its follow up, Controlling Britney Spears, dropped on Friday (September 24). CNN released Toxic: Britney Spears’ Battle for Freedom on Sunday (September 26); and Netflix’s Britney vs. Spears arrived on the platform Tuesday (September 28).

On Monday (September 27), she took to Instagram to react to the documentaries on her life. At the time, Controlling and Toxic have been released, but Britney did not specify which one she was referring to.

“It’s really crazy guys … watched a little bit of the last documentary and I must say I scratched my head a couple of times !!!” she wrote. “I really try to disassociate myself from the drama !!! Number one … that’s the past !!! Number two … can the dialogue get any classier 🤷🏼‍♀️🤓😭 ??? Number three … wow they used the most beautiful footage of me in the world 😳 !!! What can I say .. the EFFORT on their part 👏🏼🙄 !!!”

She also shared an update on The Rose Project, which she previously pointed out was a personal photo project, seemingly addressing speculations that she was using of photos of roses to send hidden messages to fans in her posts.

“Wow … since it’s such a kind world I will say The Rose Project 🌹 did stick and I will tell you why … do you think things happen for a reason or by chance??? The Rose Project – MY ROSE PROJECT – made me a believer!!!” Britney wrote. “The day I first posted The Rose Project a random red rose beaded bracelet showed up at my door and I never even ordered it !!! Nobody in the world knew about it except for me !!! I will never forget that day … so what if some of it was untrue !!! I have the original Rose 🌹 !!! Yes the one that kissed @Madonna and the one who has social anxiety!!!”

Her fiancé, Sam Asghari, also shared his thoughts on the then-upcoming documentaries on Friday (September 24).

“Apparently my opinion has increased in value over the last few days,” he wrote on his Instagram Story. “Past docs left bad after taste. I’m hopeful this one will be respective. I don’t blame CNN, BBC or NETFLIX ([which] got me thru lockdowns [praying hands emoji] for airing them because as an actor I tell other people’s stories too. I question producers who made them ‘just to shed light’ without input or approval from subject. Any credit for light being shed should go to #freebritney [red heart emoji].”

Her lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, has also responded to the claims in Controlling Britney Spears that her security team allegedly bugged her room to monitor her private conversations.

“Intercepting or monitoring Britney’s communications, especially sacrosanct attorney-client communications, represents a shameful and shocking violation of her privacy rights and civil liberties. Placing a listening device in Britney’s bedroom would be particularly disgraceful,” her lawyer said in a statement, adding, “We intend to fully and aggressively investigate these matters.”

Back in April, Britney already shared her thoughts on Framing Britney Spears.

“My life has always been very speculated…watched…and judged really my whole life !!! For my sanity I need to dance to @iamstevent every night of my life 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼 to feel wild and human and alive !!!” she wrote alongside a video of herself dancing to Aerosmith’s “Crazy.”

“I have been exposed my whole life performing in front of people 😳😳😳 !!!,” she continued. “It takes a lot of strength to TRUST the universe with your real vulnerability cause I’ve always been so judged…insulted…and embarrassed by the media…and I still am till this day 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 !!!! As the world keeps on turning and life goes on, we still remain so fragile and sensitive as people !!!”

She then went on to speak directly about the doc. “I didn’t watch the documentary but from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in … I cried for two weeks and well …. I still cry sometimes !!!!”

“I do what I can in my own spirituality with myself to try and keep my own joy … love … and happiness ✨🙏🏼 ☀️ !!!!” she added. “Every day dancing brings me joy !!! I’m not here to be perfect … perfect is boring … I’m here to pass on kindness 💋💋💋 !!!!”

She also seemingly referenced it in another post in July, when she mentioned she “didn’t like the way the documentaries bring up humiliating moments from the past.”

There’s been a lot of developments in the popstar’s conservatorship in the months between the first and the latest three documentaries – from Britney giving an explosive testimony in court in June and later hiring her a lawyer of her own choosing to her father, Jamie Spears, filing a petition to end her conservatorship earlier this month.

In the days that followed, Britney and Sam have also taken the next step in their relationship, sharing a video with her beau on Instagram proudly showing off her engagement ring on Sunday (September 12).

“I can’t f–king believe it 💍💍💍💍💍💍❣️!!!!!!”, she captioned the post.

Sam has also assured fans that there will be a pre-nup.

“Thank you to everyone who is concerned about the prenup. Of course, we’re getting an ironclad prenup to protect my Jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day,” he joked on Instagram Story on Monday (September 13), adding two crying-laughing emojis.
