Tom Holland is all business on top and party on the bottom during his recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon – but it’s not the first time. And he’s even inspired another celeb to cop the look.
During his virtual appearance on the show on Tuesday (February 23), host Jimmy asked him about a photo he recently shared on his Instagram Story – one where he was sporting a shirt and suit jacket on top but only briefs and socks on the bottom.
“I’ve got to wear this suit jacket and the suit jacket’s too hot. I have my legs out because it’s nice and freeing, but then my toes get cold, so I wear my socks,” the actor joked.
He might be making a habit of it, too, because when he stood up in front of the camera, he showed off a similarly pants-less look on the Tonight Show – and, yes, this was all on air.
Apparently, Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame co-director Joe Russo – as in one half of the Russo brothers – has taken some style inspo from Spidey himself.
Tweeting a photo of himself dressed in the similarly unusual fashion choice, Joe wrote, “Thanks for the fashion tip @TomHolland1996.”
That particular tweet also became a talking point during Tom and Jimmy’s convo, and Tom revealed, “The thing that kills me is that Joe’s actually got nicer legs than I do.”
He later jokingly added that “I don’t have to shave my legs because I’m like a prepubescent teenager. I haven’t grown hair on my legs yet.”
Tom is in Atlanta, Georgia filming the third installment of the Spider-Man franchise. And a few days ago, Tom and his co-stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon trolled fans about the film’s title.
“So excited to announce the new Spider-Man title. Can’t wait for you lot to see what we have been up to. Love from Atlanta,” Tom captioned a still from the movie, along with the obviously fake (and totally hilarious) movie title “Spider-Man: Phone Home.”
Zendaya and Jacob also shared similar posts on their Instagram, but with the titles Spider-Man: Home-Wrecker and Spider-Man: Home Slice.
But, don’t fret, Spidey fans. The actual official title has been revealed: Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The reveal was presented in a hilarious skit that poked fun at Tom’s secret-keeping abilities – or lack of it.
“I just don’t understand why he keeps doing this!” Tom groans in the clip, as he exits director Jon Watts’ office.
Jacob points out that it’s “pretty obvious” to them.
“You spoil things,” Zendaya agrees. “Your thing is…to spoil things.”
“Name one thing that I’ve spoiled,” Tom protests, to which his pals respond with: “The last movie title.”
In the interview, Jimmy also asked Tom about rumors of previous Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield making a cameo in the upcoming film.
“It would be amazing if they were because they haven’t told me that yet. I am Spider-Man and I’ve read the script from the beginning to the end, so it’d be a miracle if they could’ve kept that from me,” he said. “At the moment, there is no cameo from the two boys.”
But, given his track record with spoiling plot secrets, he also admitted that that might be information he may not be privy to right now.
“It actually is getting to the point where it’s really frustrating because I feel now I’ve progressed. I’m a trustworthy member of the Avengers,” he said. “I haven’t really ever spoiled anything… Well, there’s a few things, but we’ll leave it at that.”
He did confirm one cameo though – and it has a personal connection: his younger brother Harry has a small role in the film.
“He has a small cameo in Cherry. He plays a character called ‘the shaky kid,’ and he’s a drug dealer. So, we kinda had this idea that in every film I would be in, Harry would reprise his role as ‘the shaky kid,'” Tom explained. “So he is back again in his own sort of MCU cinematic universe cameo as the ecstasy-dealing shaky kid.”
Tom also gave the lowdown on how he kinda poked fun at his little brother while filming on the set of Spider-Man.
“In the scene, he gets flipped upside down, Spider-Man webs him upside down, and then he swings back and forth while I’m having an argument with someone,” Tom shared. “… Being upside down is second nature to me now, so I know how difficult it can be.”
“[At] the beginning of the day, I was making the takes extra, extra long, just to see how long it would take before he bugged out… Towards the end of the day, I really did start to get worried about him,” he continued. “I was sort of saying to the director, ‘Listen, man, we’ve got to move on now. Look at him. He can hardly speak anymore.'”
