In September 2019, Timothée Chalamet was caught on camera packing on some serious PDA with his then-girlfriend Lily-Rose Depp. The two were spotted getting pretty hot and heavy on the deck of a boat in Capri, Italy.
In the photos, Timothée was wearing a pair of neon swim trunks while Lily rocked a leopard print bikini, and were snapped locking lips in a serious makeout sesh.
The photo quickly became a hot topic on Twitter – some even turned it into a meme. There were also those who went on to speculate that the whole thing was just a PR stunt – he and Lily-Rose had just co-starred on The King at the time.

While the actor prefers to keep details of his personal life private, in a recent interview, he reflected on how the photos turned a private moment into a public spectacle.
“I went to bed that night thinking that was one of the best days of my life,” Timothée told GQ. “I was on this boat all day with someone I really loved, and closing my eyes, I was like, indisputably, ‘That was great.’ And then waking up to all these pictures, and feeling embarrassed, and looking like a real nob? All pale? And then people are like: This is a P.R. stunt. A P.R. stunt?! Do you think I’d want to look like that in front of all of you?!”
Following his split from Lily-Rose, Timothée sparked romance rumors with another actress over the summer – he was once again photographed enjoying a long PDA sesh in a pool with Eiza Gonzalez during their weekend getaway in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
In the interview, he also revealed that he considers Saoirse Ronan as one of his best friends, and she shared some insight on how Timothée balances keeping his personal life on the DL and being a public figure.
“He’s 24, and he’s gonna have a great time, and I would never judge him. I’ve been to Coachella; I just never got photographed at Coachella,” Saoirse told the magazine. “But yeah, we talk about that sort of stuff all the time. We’ve weirdly gone through this together for the last few years. We’ve both become more accessible. But he’s had one sort of attention—I do feel like boys get it on a whole other level.”
“I know that ultimately what he wants is to be good at his job. And that will always steer him on the right path,” she continued. “I’ve always let him know, and he’s always let me know, we can talk to each other, and we do. He has good people around him, and I’m one of them, and Greta as well—we all kind of look out for one another.”
