The Weeknd is now the proud owner of lavish new digs in the very exclusive neighborhood of Bel Air.
The Wall Street Journal reports that The Weeknd (real name: Abel Tesfaye) has acquired the deed to a ritzy mega mansion in the area in what is considered one of the priciest real estate deals in California real estate. The price tag? A whopping $70 Million!
And to those wondering what this major crib upgrade entails, according to Dirt.com, The Weeknd now has 33,000 square feet of living space set in an ultra-private 1.6 acre parcel of land to call home.
With double gates and a very long driveway, Abel will enjoy premium privacy while taking in the picturesque views of Bel Air Country Club’s golf courses below.
While originally built in 2002 in a Tuscan-inspired design, the home’s previous owners, Dutch celebrities Reinout and Danielle Oerlemans, put in three years of renovations into the property and a collection of modern furnishings from all over the world, turning the formerly $21.4 Million home (as of summer of 2015) into the $70 Million estate it to today.
The nine-bedroom home is also tricked out with various luxe amenities, including a massive indoor pool, a Turkish-style bath, a movie theater, a gym, and a separate music studio.
The home’s striking interiors definitely make bold statements – from the living room’s glossy orange walls and soaring black marble fireplace to the formal dining room’s coffered ceilings and patterned walls, and the stylish gourmet kitchen featuring not one but two marble waterfall-edge islands set with copper drawers, plus bespoke leather handles affixed to every cabinets. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls also line most of the living space for a seamless indoor-outdoor lifestyle.
Outside, the landscaped grounds feature an outdoor living room, a spacious sundeck next to a large infinity pool and waterfall, an outdoor lounge area, plus an multi-purpose sports court which may be used for soccer or tennis.
As for Abel’s previous residence in Hidden Hills, it was sold to another A-list celebrity in April of this year. The buyer? None other than the mononymous Queen of Pop herself, Madonna, who scooped up the nine-bedroom home for $19.3 million.
