Simu Liu is proud of his family’s journey — and he is honoring it in a very special way.
The 32-year-old Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings actor has revealed that he wrote a book about his family’s experiences as they found their footing in a foreign land.
His book is titled We Were Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story.
Simu announced his new endeavor on Tuesday (February). He took to social media to share his news, writing on Twitter:
“I WROTE A BOOK!
From Harbin to Hollywood, We Were Dreamers is a hilarious and heartfelt tale about coming of age in a foreign land, struggling to find your footing and ultimately learning to seize your moment and own your greatness.”
He shared that he poured his heart into writing his novel:
“Just adding on here: Every immigrant family has an extraordinary origin story, and this is ours. This book is my whole heart and soul.
It has been a nearly three-year journey to write this story of our little family of dreamers, and I absolutely cannot wait to share it with you.”
Congratulations on your new project, Simu!
