POPSTAR! TV’s new thriller, Purgatory, is this summer’s must-see TV. The show, about a group of strangers all invited to a lavish celebration at an exclusive resort and becoming unwitting pawns in an elaborate scheme of revenge, takes viewers on an unpredictable journey and leaves us breathless with every twist and turn.

No doubt about it, Purgatory is hot TV commodity right now — and so is its talented cast, led by Erik Fellows as Bobby, whom he describes as a “bad, bad guy”.

Of his character, Erik has said:
“I play the role of Bobby, and he is a bad, bad guy. He did some real time in jail; he is an ex-con/rapist with a very dark twisted side but with an alluring and charming side as well. He has a broad arc of this series. He was an extremely fun character for me to play.”

Erik has also spoken about how he tackled the complex role:
“I usually play the edgier lead roles, but with this one, I really went into it with a blank mind and let it take me where it would. I’m the kind of actor that very much lives in the seconds before action is called. I go in without judging my character at all!

I want to feel the realness to the moments instead of anticipating what could or what is supposed to happen to me. I really took that into account with Bobby. I couldn’t be more thrilled and excited for everyone to see our project and the introduction of me as Bobby!”

Set mostly in man-made caves in Armenia, Purgatory was filmed over 16 episodes, spanning the show’s first and upcoming second seasons. In interviews, Erik shared how the pandemic has affected their shoot:
“We were shooting season one and season two in Armenia when the virus started to expand, and we filmed until about March 20, and then we were sent back to the States. I still have to go back to Armenia to finish a few episodes for the second season.”

In a previous interview with POPSTAR!, series writer Michael Cassie revealed this about the experience of filming Purgatory:
“Everyone was dialed in and working so hard, but the work was also a lot of fun, and I think that shows in the end result. I’m really proud of the show, and I hope people enjoy watching it, as much as I enjoyed making it.

Ultimately, we started out as strangers in a new country, and I honestly feel that we left as family with the entire Armenian team. I can’t say enough great things about the cast and crew, and I truly enjoyed the country, and people of Armenia.”

Purgatory is based on an Armenian soap opera and reimagined for American audiences. With its talented mix of American and Armenian cast and crew, breathtaking storylines, and nuanced acting – plus all of its intelligent twists! – Purgatory is heating up screens all across America, leaving audiences excited for more.
