Lucy Hale is marking a major milestone in her life—three years of sobriety—and taking a moment to reflect on her transformative journey.

On Thursday, January 2, the Pretty Little Liars alum, 35, shared her story with her followers in an emotional and inspiring Instagram post. Hale opened up about the profound changes she’s experienced since choosing sobriety, describing it as a journey of self-discovery and healing.

“Damn. 3 years ago today, I began my journey in remembering who I am,” she wrote. “Since then, I’ve experienced moments that can only be described as pure miracles and magic.”

Hale expressed gratitude for the support she’s received along the way, both from loved ones and a higher power. “I am deeply grateful every day—for the people who have been guiding lights, for a power greater than myself that loves me unconditionally, and for my own perseverance in not giving up,” she continued.

To others who might be struggling or on a similar path, Hale offered a heartfelt message of encouragement: “Just keep going. You are not alone, and the world needs you. ❤️”

Her post was accompanied by a screenshot of her sobriety calculator, a serene photo of herself gazing at the ocean, and a meaningful quote by Devi Brown.

Hale’s vulnerability and openness touched her followers, including many of her famous friends. Demi Lovato showed their support by commenting, “So proud of you ❤️,” while Colton Haynes added, “Soooo happy for u!!! Love u Lulu 👏🏼.” Her former Pretty Little Liars costars also chimed in, with Janel Parrish writing, “You’re absolutely amazing 🤍,” and Sasha Pieterse adding, “🙌❤️.”

Last year, Hale was honored with the 2024 Humanitarian Award from Friendly House, a women’s addiction recovery centre. Speaking to PEOPLE about her sobriety journey, Hale explained why she’s chosen to be vocal about it.

“When I got sober, my intention was never to be the poster child of sobriety,” she said. “But when I began speaking about it, it came from a place of needing to heal and take my power back.”

While Hale admits the journey hasn’t always been easy, she emphasised that it’s been worth every challenge. “I still have to make the choice every day like, ‘Okay, today I’m staying sober, and today I’m choosing me,’ but that goes deeper than just not drinking,” she said. “My life feels so good now that I wouldn’t give that up for anything.”

Lucy Hale’s story is a powerful reminder that healing and self-love are lifelong commitments. Her courage to share her journey inspires others to take their own steps toward growth and change.
