Lisa is stepping into the solo spotlight in a big way!

The 27-year-old BLACKPINK superstar has finally confirmed the release of her highly anticipated debut solo studio album, Alter Ego. Fans won’t have to wait too long—the album is set to drop on February 28, 2025, via LLOUD in partnership with RCA Records.

In true Lisa fashion, the announcement was anything but ordinary. The official Alter Ego teaser clip showcases five distinct characters, each representing a facet of her personality, positioned as five points on a star. It’s a bold and artistic hint at the layers she plans to unveil in her solo era.

Lisa has already given fans a taste of what’s to come with her recent singles. The most recent release, “Moonlit Floor,” interpolates the beloved classic “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer, blending nostalgia with her modern style. Before that, she dropped the sultry and empowering “New Woman” featuring Rosalía, as well as the energetic anthem “Rockstar.” Each track has showcased a different side of Lisa, setting the stage for her multi-dimensional debut.

In an interview with Billboard earlier this month, Lisa opened up about the nerves that came with going solo and how she’s grown into her new role.

“At first, I was scared and nervous because I never really come out here to do my own stuff,” Lisa admitted. “And now I’m having fun.”

Her fans played a huge role in boosting her confidence along the way.

“When [my singles] came out, the reaction from the fans, it’s healing me. It’s like, ‘Oh, my God. Yeah — I did a great job!’” she shared, reflecting on how their support has helped her embrace the spotlight.

While Lisa is known for her rapping skills in BLACKPINK, her solo work is a chance to show off her full artistic range.

“I’m not like, ‘OK, I’m going to sit down and write the whole thing,’” Lisa explained. “In BLACKPINK, I’m a rapper, so I always rap, but now it’s a chance for me to show the world that I’m capable of [so much more].”

This new chapter also reflects a shift in her image—more mature, edgier, and unapologetically herself.

“It’s a little looser [now],” she said of her current vibe. “We’re not rookies anymore. I’m 27 and headed toward 30. Of course I’m still young, yes, but I feel like it’s more flexible for us. And it’s nothing crazy… I feel like I’m just doing whatever I want, and it doesn’t hurt anyone. As long as it doesn’t hurt anyone’s feelings.”

Despite her solo success, Lisa is quick to credit her BLACKPINK bandmates for their unwavering support.

“We know each other so well and know how much energy we have to put into every single project,” she shared. “So we want to support and say, ‘You did really well!’ Like, Jennie and Rosie just released their own songs, and we’re on texts, we’re on FaceTime. They’re like family.”

As for BLACKPINK’s future, Lisa made it clear the group isn’t going anywhere.

“Of course we want to do more, because BLACKPINK, it’s part of our lives,” she said. “We still want to accomplish more, but on the other side, we also wanted to do something for our solo careers.”

With Alter Ego just months away, Lisa is set to show the world a new side of herself while keeping the BLACKPINK bond strong. Fans can look forward to a fresh and fearless chapter from this K-pop icon.
