Congratulations are in order for Lance Bass and husband Michael Turchin – they’re now parents to twins!
The couple welcomed a son and a daughter on Wednesday (October 13) via surrogate at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.
Lance announced the happy news on Instagram on Thursday (October 14), posting the birth certificates of their twin bundles of joy – Alexander James and Violet Betty – who were born one minute apart.
Per the birth certificates, which also featured adorable stamps of their tiny footprints, Alexander arrived earthside weighing 4 lbs., 14 oz and measured 18.5 inches long while Violet was born at 17.5 inches long, weighing 4 lbs., 11 oz..
“The baby dragons have arrived!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️” the ecstatic new dad captioned the post. “I can not express how much love I feel right now. Thank you for all the kind wishes. It meant a lot. Now, how do you change a diaper??! Ahhhhhhhh!”
Lance and Michael have been dating since 2011 and tied the knot in 2014. The pair embarked on their journey to become parents back in 2018 but struggle with years of surrogacy attempts, failed IVF treatments, and heartbreaking miscarriages.
The NSYNC alum has been candid about the emotional toll of their painful losses.
“You try to trick yourself into not getting excited because you know anything can happen at any time, especially in those first few weeks when there’s a huge possibility that the [embryos] won’t stick,” he previously shared with Entertainment Tonight. “You keep telling yourself that and trying not to get your hopes up, but you’re always going to have those thoughts in the back of your brain where you’re already planning out their lives. Especially once you know the sex — you can’t help but fast-forward over their entire lives and imagine who they’re going to be like, who they might marry and all kinds of stuff.”
“That’s the thing that sucks — you can’t help yourself from thinking those thoughts and having this perfect world scenario in your mind,” he continued. “Getting over that has been hard. It’s like all these hopes and dreams I had won’t be happening this time. But everything happens for a reason and when it needs to happen, it’ll have to happen.”
In June, Lance revealed that they were expecting twins. While they tried to remain cautiously optimistic, they also couldn’t help but be excited at the prospect of finally becoming parents.
“We always knew we wanted at least two kids,” he told People at the time. “It would be nice to have a boy and a girl just to feel the experiences of raising both or whatever they end up being. I think it’s just amazing that science has gotten this far where we can make the healthiest human beings ever. And I hope in our lifetime, we’ll be able to see the whole world be able to do this.”
Congratulations to the new parents!
