Katy Perry and Rebecca Black just took their love for Fridays to the next level! Over the weekend, the pop superstar surprised Black during Black’s show in Los Angeles—not just with a nostalgic duet, but with an invitation to join her on the road for the upcoming Lifetimes Tour. And, in true Katy Perry fashion, she did it with flair, dropping to one knee in front of a cheering crowd.
The big moment happened at Black’s Salvation tour stop at El Rey Theatre on Saturday night, where the two performed “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” a throwback to their first collaboration in Perry’s 2011 music video. But the real surprise came afterward, when Perry theatrically grabbed Black’s hand and asked, “Will you…” Before she could finish, Black playfully interrupted, “Marry you?” Perry laughed before clarifying, “Kinda—join me on the Lifetimes Tour?” With an enthusiastic “Yes, yes, yes!” Black sealed the deal.
Perry wasted no time sharing the news with fans, posting a series of clips and photos to Instagram. “About to spend a lot more Fridays with @msrebeccablack,” she wrote. “WELCOME TO THE LIFETIMES TOUR BABES.”
To top off the nostalgia, Perry also threw in a behind-the-scenes flashback from the original “Last Friday Night” music video. “Rebecca and I both love Fridays,” she says in the clip. “So that’s why I asked her to be in this music video—because Friday is like my favorite day of the week, and it’s her favorite day of the week.” The video also features a hilarious moment where Perry jokes about their characters’ backstory, saying, “We used to be friends in 3rd grade and then something happened. I don’t know what happened, but…” Black, gesturing to her dorky costume, quips, “This happened.” Perry then deadpans, “Well, I’m sorry I’m not a C cup.”
The chemistry between them is undeniable, and now fans can look forward to seeing it continue on tour. Perry has promised an electrifying show, telling Rolling Stone, “We’re giving BPM. We’re giving celebration. We’re giving unity. We’re giving dance. It will be like Disneyland on Wheels, as it always is. A feast for the eyes and the ears.”
With Black officially joining the lineup, the Lifetimes Tour just got even more exciting—and Fridays just got even better.
