Johnny Depp is ringing in his 59th year with a new tune — many new tunes, in fact!
On Thursday (June 9), the actor announced a new studio album that he made with guitarist Jeff Beck. Johnny and Jeff have known each other since 2016.
Johnny, who is fresh off his defamation trial victory, will be releasing the album on July 15. Titled 18, the upcoming album includes 13 tracks. In their statement announcing their collaborative project, Jeff said:
“When Johnny and I started playing together, it really ignited our youthful spirit and creativity.
We would joke about how we felt 18 again, so that just became the album title too.”
The first single, titled “This Is A Song For Miss Hedy Lamarr,” is out now. It is one of the few original tracks from 18 – the rest are said to be covers.
Johnny is currently appearing as a guest on the European tour of Jeff, which ends July 25.
He said this of Jeff in the statement:
“It’s an extraordinary honor to play and write music with Jeff.
One of the true greats and someone I am now privileged enough to call my brother.”
