Jodie Turner-Smith is stepping into the legal arena against her estranged husband, Joshua Jackson. The 38-year-old actress, known for her role in The Agency, filed new court documents on December 23, alleging that the 46-year-old Doctor Odyssey star has failed to provide any child or spousal support since she initiated divorce proceedings in October 2023.
In her filing, Jodie is requesting a monthly child support payment of $8,543, retroactive to the date she filed for divorce. Additionally, she is seeking $28,641 per month in spousal support while their divorce is still in the works. This move marks a significant shift in her approach, as she initially asked the court to exclude spousal support from the discussion.
Jodie and Joshua’s relationship began in 2018, and they quickly became engaged just a few months later. The couple tied the knot in August 2019 and welcomed their daughter, Juno, in April 2020. Their journey together has been filled with love and shared experiences, but it seems that the end of their marriage has brought about some financial disputes.
In her divorce filing, Jodie has also requested that Joshua cover her legal expenses, asking for $250,000 to help with attorney fees and other related costs. In the new court documents, she claims that Joshua, who she asserts has earned significantly more than she has, previously assured her of his support. She quoted him as saying he would “always support me and ensured me that I would not have to worry about financial security for our daughter if we ever separated because he said he understood how difficult life can be as a Black woman and a single mother.”
However, Jodie now feels that Joshua is “reneging on that promise” and is attempting to push her into accepting a settlement that falls short of what she believes is fair.
As the legal battle unfolds, it’s clear that Jodie is determined to secure the support she feels she and her daughter deserve.Fans of both Jodie and Joshua are watching closely as this story develops, hoping for a resolution that prioritizes the best interests of their daughter, Juno. As the couple navigates this difficult chapter, it’s evident that both parties will need to address their commitments and promises made during their marriage.
