The project was more than just a renovation; it was a deeply sentimental journey. “Almost three years ago, I started the project of my dreams… I surprised my parents by buying them a house!! 🤩🏠🎉🎁,” Jessica shared with her fans on Instagram. The emotional connection to the property made the surprise even more meaningful. “Now, it wasn’t just any house — it was extra sentimental as it was my grandfather’s house that my father grew up in 🥹,” she added.

After Jessica’s grandfather passed away, her parents were faced with the difficult decision of selling the house to cover her grandmother’s medical bills. Jessica, however, had a different plan in mind. “After my grandfather passed away, my parents were planning on selling the house in order to pay for my grandmother’s medical bills. Well… I pretended like I was going to help them flip it before selling when in reality, I had planned to buy it for them all along,” she revealed.
In the emotional video, Jessica disclosed that the family home was about to be put up for sale as her grandmother required round-the-clock care. Not wanting the house to leave the family, Jessica decided to take matters into her own hands. She enlisted the help of her Honest Renovations co-host, Lizzy Mathis, and a trusted family friend and contractor, Tinku, to bring the house back to life.
As the renovation neared completion, Jessica finally dropped the big news to her parents. In the video, she’s seen holding back tears as she tells them, “The last piece of the puzzle is I have been trying to figure out how to tell you guys that I’m gonna buy you guys this house. So don’t buy it yourself.” Her parents, Mark and Catherine, were visibly moved, with her father expressing his pride and gratitude. “Now the house that you grew up in, Dad, is yours,” Jessica said, as her dad responded, saying that her grandfather would “be proud of you.”
