Hollywood Celebrities Weigh In On The Bathing Debate

In July, Hollywood couple Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher opened up about their bathing habits – which some found to be quite controversial.

“I don’t wash my body with soap every day,” the actress shared on the July 19 episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast. “But I wash pits and t–s and holes and soles…When I had children, I also didn’t wash them every day.”

Ashton shared similar sentiments, admitting, “I wash my armpits and my crotch daily, and nothing else ever.” He also seconded Mila’s comments about bathing their children: “Here’s the thing—if you can see the dirt on ’em, clean ’em. Otherwise, there’s no point.”

Their statements soon sparked a discussion about celebrity bathing habits – and their fellow celebs are also weighing in.

Apparently, Dax and wife Kristen Bell share a similar approach when it comes to bathing their kids.

“We bathed our children every single night—prior to bed is like the routine,” Dax shared on The View. “And then somehow, they just started going to sleep on their own without the routine, and by George, we had to start saying, ‘Hey, when’s the last time you bathed them?'”

“I’m a big fan of waiting for the stink. Once you catch a whiff, that’s biology’s way of letting you know you need to clean it up,” Kristen added.

Jake Gyllenhaal also finds bathing “less necessary” and believes that we “naturally clean ourselves.”

“More and more I find bathing to be less necessary, at times,” he told Vanity Fair. “I do also think that there’s a whole world of not bathing that is also really helpful for skin maintenance, and we naturally clean ourselves.”

As for Jodie Turner-Smith, she went on Twitter to shut down any questions on the matter before they get asked. “Before you lot even ask:  in this house, we bathe,” she tweeted.

Jason Momoa also assures fans, “I’m not starting any trends. I shower.”

“Trust me, I’m Aquaman. I’m in the f–king water. Don’t worry about it,” he told Access Hollywood. “I’m Hawaiian. We got saltwater on me. We good.”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, on the other hand, subscribes to the other end of the bathing spectrum – he showers three times a day!

Tweeting that he’s “the opposite of a ‘not washing themselves’ celeb,” he shared his routine with fans: “Shower (cold) when I roll outta bed to get my day rollin’. Shower (warm) after my workout before work. Shower (hot) after I get home from work. Face wash, body wash, exfoliate and I sing (off key) in the shower.”

And an old comment Chris Evans made about showering recently viral amid all the talk about celebrities’ bathing habits.

“I just stay home and I never shower,” he quipped about life in quarantine during an interview last year.

But he quickly clarified that it was just a joke, adding, “That’s not true, I shower all the time. I don’t know why I said that. I’m a very clean person!”
