Winston Duke is reflecting on making his debut as a model in Rihanna’s latest Savage x Fenty fashion show.
In an appearance on Live With Kelly And Ryan on Wednesday (January 4), the 36-year-old Black Panther: Wakanda Forever actor candidly spoke about the surprising feedback that he got after he walked in the show – he was labeled as “plus-sized.”
He said with a laugh when asked if he had any plans to do more modeling:
“No, but I’ve not been crowned the face of the plus-sized modeling movement.”
Winston went on to elaborate:
“I had no idea, apparently I’m plus-sized. So I’ve been running around telling people to watch how they talk to me because I’m the ambassador for plus-size modeling now – unofficial ambassador.”
He also shared that he received similar feedback after he posed tfor the cover of Esquire’s winter 2022 issue, saying:
“There were all the tweets saying, ‘We’re so glad’ — I was like, the cover for Esquire magazine recently. And they’re like, ‘It’s so good to see a plus-sized man be dressed really well.
And I’m like, ‘I’m plus-sized?’” So I’ve just been going with it. I’m a plus-sized guy. I’ll take it!”
