Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen are officially engaged, and the proposal story is as sweet as you’d imagine. The 28-year-old Buffalo Bills quarterback opened up about how he asked Hailee to marry him in the latest issue of Beau Society, Hailee’s newsletter, sent out on Friday (December 6).
While Hailee isn’t quite ready to share her version of events, Josh didn’t hold back on the details. “While I can’t wait to tell you more about the day and things we’re planning, I’m not ready quite yet,” Hailee said in the newsletter. “I have to hold this close for a little while longer. All the happy tears have just barely dried. Whenever we tell the story, look back at photos, or even say, ‘We’re engaged’ or ‘We’re getting married,’ I start crying.”
As for Josh, he revealed that the day began with an unexpected twist, courtesy of Hailee herself. “The funniest thing was that we woke up and were getting ready for brunch and you jumped on the bed and said, ‘Can we get married already?!? What are you waiting for??!’” he shared. “I replied, ‘Just give me a little more time.’ Little did you know I was about to propose to you…”
Josh admitted that keeping the proposal a secret was one of the toughest parts of planning the big moment. “I think I was most nervous about you finding out about the proposal,” he said. “It was hard to keep secrets from you and have other people in your life keep secrets from you. Multiple times throughout the day, a song would come on, and I would tear up thinking about how special our day was going to be.”
When the moment finally arrived, Josh poured his heart out. “I said I couldn’t wait any longer. I said I can’t wait to start a family with you. I said your full name, and I asked you very nicely. I said please,” he recalled.
The proposal went off without a hitch. “I didn’t blow it, nor did anyone else,” Josh joked. “You were extremely surprised, you said yes, and that was all that mattered to me. And the sun was out.”
Though Hailee is keeping her side of the story close for now, it’s clear the couple is over the moon. With a romantic proposal like this, their love story is off to an unforgettable start.
