The 2025 Golden Globes lit up Sunday night, celebrating the best in film and television. Emilia Pérez stole the spotlight, snagging awards for Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy and Best Non-English Language Film. Zoe Saldaña also shone, earning Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film, while its song “El Mal” won Best Original Song.

In the drama category, The Brutalist reigned supreme, taking home Best Motion Picture — Drama. Brady Corbet doubled up with the award for Best Director, while Adrien Brody delivered a winning performance, earning him Best Actor in a Drama.

On the animation front, Flow claimed Best Animated Film, and Wicked received the award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.

Television also had its moment. Shogun was named Best Drama Series, with Anna Sawai, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Tadanobu Asano all earning acting honours for their roles. Over in comedy, Hacks secured Best TV Series — Musical or Comedy, with Jean Smart adding another trophy to her shelf for her performance. Baby Reindeer won Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or TV Movie, with Jessica Gunning taking home an individual award.

Other acting winners included Fernanda Torres, Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Allen White, Colin Farrell, Sebastian Stan, Demi Moore, and Jodie Foster. Meanwhile, Ali Wong nabbed Best Stand-Up Performance on TV.

In film, Peter Straughan won Best Screenplay for Conclave, while Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross scored Best Original Score for Challengers.

Nikki Glaser hosted the event, which featured awards in 27 categories across film and television. On Friday night, Viola Davis was honoured with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and Ted Danson received the Carol Burnett Award at the inaugural Golden Gala. Stars like Jane Fonda, Meryl Streep, and Carol Burnett attended the special ceremony.

This year marked the second Golden Globes since the Hollywood Foreign Press Association was replaced by a more racially and ethnically diverse group of international voters, following the acquisition of HFPA assets by Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge.

The 82nd Golden Globes aired live from the Beverly Hilton on CBS and Paramount+, with Emmy-winning producers Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner returning as showrunners. It was a night to remember, celebrating creativity, diversity, and the power of storytelling.
