G-Eazy is finally opening up about Ashley Benson.

ICYMI, after collaborating on a cover of Radiohead’s “Creep” in April, and news of Ashley’s split from ex-girlfriend Cara Delevingne, sightings of the pair began sparking dating speculations.

In June, Ashley took G-Eazy as her plus one to attend her sister Shaylene’s wedding, seemingly confirming that things are getting serious – after all, he’s met her family. Then, G-Eazy dropped his track, “All The Things You’re Searching For,” over the summer, which is rumored to be about Ashley.

The rumor mill went into overdrive with speculations that they may have taken their relationship to the next level when the 31-year-old actress was spotted out and about in Los Angeles in August sporting a very interesting accessory – a diamond ring on that finger!

G-Eazy (real name: Gerald Earl Gillum) and Ashley have been linked since May – and the jury’s still out on wwether they’ve gotten engaged – but it seems the two have been determined to keep their rumored relationship on the DL (read: no official statements from either on their actual relationship status).

However, in a recent interview, G-Eazy couldn’t help but gush about Ashley.

“[Ashley is] an exceptionally talented person in many different spaces,” G-Eazy told Entertainment Tonight. “She’s a special one. Obviously, she’s a great actress, but, you know, getting to work with her and putting her in front of a microphone and watching her sing so effortlessly, she has this very special tone of voice and texture and something that’s very innate to her given that’s not her first job or what she’s known for.”

“It just blew me away that you can have such a hidden, special talent that the world doesn’t get to see as often,” he added.

In addition to featuring on some of G-Eazy’s projects, he also shared that Ashley’s been writing songs with him – but he’s not sure if any of them will be released.

“They sound like what they sound like,” he teased. “And they’re in my studio and, you know, maybe one day they’ll see the light of day, we’ll see.”

G-Eazy also says that while he does sing about topics like toxic relationships, substance abuse, and more in his new music, his songs aren’t “too autobiographical” – he still wants to keep aspects of his life private.

“I’ve experienced love in my life. I’ve experienced heartbreak in my life and caused heartbreak in my life and received heartbreak in my life,” he said. “The power of music is to express and capture the human experience. We live and we experience things. Music for us is an outlet, a way to channel the things we go through and put into a tangible forum.”

“Even if you’re in love and sometimes you just want to preserve and protect somebody,” he added. “…Just keeping some of that protected.”

But if his fans think that a certain song is about a particular person, he says he’s not going let those speculations limit his creative process.

“What are you supposed to do as a creative? Stop writing from the heart or stop writing all together? Stop doing music videos? Stop doing what you do?” he asked. “You got to pull from somewhere and we’re allowed to write. This is our purpose of what we do.”
