David Archuleta isn’t holding back when it comes to talking about his preferences in the bedroom. The 33-year-old singer, best known for his runner-up finish on American Idol season seven, recently cleared the air on some assumptions about his personal life during an interview on Logo’s Spill with Johnny Sibilly.
Back in February 2024, David stirred up a conversation about his preferences when he responded to a comment labelling him a “full-time bottom.” His response? “I’m sure that you are absolutely right… For other people out there,” he said at the time. “I’m sure that they would definitely agree with that.” However, he added, “Couldn’t relate.”
The statement sparked speculation that David was subtly identifying as a “top,” but during his chat with Johnny Sibilly, he set the record straight.
“People [were] assuming I was just [a] bottom,” he explained. “When they first started saying that, I didn’t even know what that meant. I was like, ‘What do you mean a bottom?’ I didn’t know that kind of terminology before.”
Addressing his earlier comment, David elaborated, “I was addressing to someone, ‘You know, I’m sure other people enjoy that. I just can’t relate.’ Because my experience has not been that. But I would consider myself a vers.”
The conversation turned even more personal when David hinted at being demisexual, explaining his attraction to people over specific body parts. “It’s not like I’m even into d-ck, and I’m not really into ass either, to be honest. It’s like, I’m into the person. Doing only one thing is boring to me,” he admitted.
When asked what gets him going, David was refreshingly honest and lighthearted. “A good face,” he shared. “I don’t understand when people are like, ‘Oh! That good d-ck!’ And like, the d-ck, and I’m like, oh my gosh, like, what is attractive about a d-ck? It’s a sensational part of your body.” He added with a laugh, “I don’t find them to be pretty.”
David’s openness is a refreshing reminder of how multifaceted attraction and sexuality can be. By discussing these topics with humor and vulnerability, he continues to break down barriers, not just as a public figure but as a voice for authenticity in the LGBTQ+ community.
Whether it’s about labels or love, David is clearly all about embracing individuality, one candid conversation at a time.
