Earlier this week, Britney Spears’ new attorney, Mathew Rosengart, officially filed a petition to suspend and remove Jamie Spears as conservator of her estate. And the popstar has since received support in her legal battle from mom Lynne Spears and personal conservator Jodi Montgomery.

According to the documents filed, Lynne shared a statement supporting her daughter, stating in part, “I became involved in this conservatorship because I wanted to ensure that everything in my daughter’s life was handled in the best interests of my daughter, the conservatee. Which I did not believe at the time (and I still do not today) to be the case.”

She went on to allege that Jamie “exercised absolutely microscopic control over the conservatee and her actions,” and even had everyone working with Britney reporting back “every detail of every action that takes place in the conservatee’s home and her life.”

“Such scrutiny is exhausting and terrifying,” Lynne states. “Like living in custody.”

“Since this conservatorship has been in place, the relationship between the conservatee and Mr. Spears has dwindled to nothing but fear and hatred,” she claims, adding that the relationship between father and daughter has broken down due “to Mr. Spears’ behavior, including his complete control over her, his mistrust of her, his coercion of her, his ‘bartering’ with her over what she can and cannot do for whatever reward or punishment he is willing to mete out.”

According to Lynne, Jamie “is incapable of putting my daughter’s interests ahead of his own on both a professional and a personal level and that his being and remaining a conservator of my daughter’s estate is not in the best interests of my daughter.”

On Wednesday (July 28), Jodi Montgomery, conservator of Britney’s person, also filed documents via her attorney Laurieann Wright, claiming that Britney’s doctors agree that Jamie should be removed from the conservatorship.

Per the new documents, Jodi “respectfully notes that Britney Spears’s medical team agrees that it is not in the best interest of [Britney] for Jamie Spears to be and remain conservator of the estate,” adding that she agrees with the singer’s desire to remove her father from the position.

In her filing, Britney requested to have Jason Rubin, a CPA, take over as conservator of her estate, which Jodi seconded in the documents she filed.

Britney gave an explosive testimony during a June 23 hearing, calling her 13-year conservatorship “abusive,” and asked for it to be terminated without having to evaluate her further.

Following the testimony, Jamie released a statement in court, via his lawyer.

“He is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain. Mr. Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much,” the statement said.

He also requested an investigation into what he called “serious allegations regarding forced labor, forced medical treatment and therapy, improper medical care, and limitations on personal rights.”

There’s been a number of developments in Britney’s conservatorship case since – including the singer being allowed to choose her own legal representation in Mathew Rosengart. Her previous court-appointed attorney, Samuel D. Ingham, resigned earlier this month.
