Congratulations to the newly-engaged couple, Britney Spears and Sam Asghari!
The couple, who have been dating since 2016 – they met on the set of Britney’s music video for “Slumber Party” – have taken their relationship to the next level and shared the happy news on Sunday (September 12) on Instagram.
In a post captioned, “I can’t f–king believe it 💍💍💍💍💍💍❣️!!!!!!”, Britney shared a video with her beau as she proudly showed off her engagement ring.
“Look at that. Do you like it?” Sam asks in the video.
“Yes!” Britney yells back excitedly.
Sam also shared a photo offering a closer look at the engagement ring simply captioned, “🤴👸 @britneyspears.”
Fans and friends took to the comments section with congratulations and well-wishes for the couple.
“Congratulations love!! 😍 So happy for you! Welcome to the club! 👰🏼💍,” Paris Hilton wrote.
“Congratulations!!!!💕💕💕❤️❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕💕❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕💕💕,” Paris’ mom, Kathy Hilton, seconded.
“🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥,” fashion designer Christian Siriano chimed in.
“I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!! Congratulations!!! 🤍🤍🤍,” Jordin Sparks added.
Tommy Dorfman wrote “YES” and added a punny comment “ENGAGEDNEY.”
Andy Cohen wished the couple “Mazel!” while Kaitlynn Bristowe shared, “I’m going to need 3-5 business days to recover from this news.”
Sam has since taken to Instagram Story to thank everyone for their messages, writing, “My phone exploded today! Thank you for the overwhelming love and congratulations. We both love [every] single one of you!”
His talent manager, Brandon Cohen, also issued a statement about Sam and Britney’s engagement, saying, “The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them,”
Sam popped the question with a custom-designed four-carat diamond ring – the round brilliant stone is showcased in a platinum cathedral setting with a floating solitaire design. The ring is also inscribed with a personalized dedication of Sam’s nickname for Britney: “Lionness”
The ring is designed by NYC jewelry designer Roman Malayev, who Brandon says “couldn’t be more happier to be involved and make this a one of a kind ring.”
Sam also opened up about the process of finding the perfect ring for his lady love in a statement.
“Every designer I spoke with about the ring was amazing with great ideas, but I just clicked with Roman — we really connected on the design and he was as excited as I was to make it special,” Sam shared in his statement. “That’s why I chose him.”
Just last week, Britney’s dad Jamie Spears, filed documents stating that his daughter is Britney is “entitled to have this court now seriously consider whether this conservatorship is no longer required.”
Among the well-wishes and congratulations, Octavia Spencer also offered some advice for Britney.
“Make him sign a prenup,” the actress wrote in the comments, which was seconded by several fans.
“I’m with octavia 100%! So many people have been taking advantage of Britney. From Kevin, her father, Drs, Lawyers. If he really loves her he would request a prenup himself,” one fan wrote.
Another fan shared, “Queen Octavia just trying to make sure no one touched Britney’s money again.”
Sam has since addressed the prenup issue in his Instagram Story on Monday (September 13), assuring fans that he and Britney will definitely be protecting their respective assets before saying tying the knot.
“Thank you to everyone who is concerned about the prenup. Of course, we’re getting an ironclad prenup to protect my Jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day,” he joked, adding two crying-laughing emojis.
