Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are pushing back against Justin Baldoni’s latest legal move, seeking to have his $400 million defamation lawsuit dismissed.

If you’ve lost track of this ongoing legal saga, here’s a quick refresher: Justin filed his massive lawsuit earlier this month after Blake took legal action against him in late December. Now, with a court hearing set for next week, the Hollywood power couple is making their next move.

Blake and Ryan’s legal team aren’t wasting any time. On Thursday (January 30), their lawyer, Michael Gottlieb, sent a letter to the judge, making it clear that they intend to get the lawsuit thrown out.

“The Lively-Reynolds Parties intend to move to dismiss Plaintiffs’ complaint,” the letter states, according to Deadline.

Meanwhile, Justin’s camp isn’t backing down. His lawyer, Bryan Freedman, fired back with a strong statement in response to Blake and Ryan’s legal maneuver.

“All these motions to dismiss are just yet another attempt by Ms. Lively, Ryan Reynolds and Leslie Sloan to hide and delay the discovery of the hundreds of pages of true facts and well-documented information that we remain dedicated to providing publicly, with full transparency,” he told Deadline.

Freedman added, “We expect such motions to be denied and, in the meantime, stand ready to oppose each and every one of them.”

With a court hearing just days away, both sides are gearing up for what’s shaping up to be a high-profile legal showdown. Whether Blake and Ryan’s dismissal request will succeed remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure—this legal battle is far from over.
