The Wicked star was on stage accepting the honor for her role as Glinda when she quipped about her appearance, saying, “I want to start by thanking my good friends Botox and Juvederm,” before adding that she had expected to be referred to as a “Slightly Withering Star or Drooping Star” by now. The remark had the audience laughing, but Ariana soon followed up to clarify her words.
In an interview after the ceremony, Ariana made it clear that she hasn’t used injectables like Botox in years. She explained why she thought it was important to keep things real with her fans, especially when it comes to her beauty routine.
When speaking with ET, the host joked that they, too, were a rising star due to their use of Botox. Ariana laughed along and responded, “My joke,” before adding with a smile, “I’m still clean.” It turns out, it’s been four years since she last used any injectables.
Ariana didn’t stop there. “When I start going again, I’ll let you know. I mean it,” she said, assuring her fans that if she ever decides to use Botox or similar treatments again, she will be open about it. She continued, explaining her commitment to transparency, particularly as the founder of her own beauty brand, REM Beauty. “I really want to be transparent as a beauty founder. I think it’s important to have transparency,” she explained.
She also made it clear that she embraces the natural lines on her face, sharing, “love them.”
While she may have jokingly thanked Botox and Juvederm in her speech, Ariana’s playful quip was just that—nothing more than a fun moment at an awards show. She’s still staying true to herself, embracing her age and the natural changes that come with it.
