Ariana Grande has been open with fans about mental health struggles and going to therapy. And she’s dropping $1 Million to encourage people “to feel okay asking for help.”

On Tuesday (June 29), Ari went on Instagram to announce that she had partnered with online therapy portal BetterHelp to give away $1 Million worth of therapy for free.

“While acknowledging that therapy should not be for a privileged few but something everyone has access to, and acknowledging that this doesn’t fix that issue in the long run, I really wanted to do this anyway in hopes of inspiring you to dip a toe in, to feel okay asking for help, and to hopefully rid your minds of any sort of self judgement in doing so!,” Ariana shared.

Those who choose to avail of the services may get one month of therapy for free – and the option to renew at a discounted price afterwards.

“I so hope that this will be a helpful starting point and that you’ll be able to build space for this in your lives and continue! healing is not linear or easy but you are worth the effort and time, I promise!” she added.

Ari has been open about her mental health struggles – including suffering from PTSD after the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing. In 2018, Ari shared that therapy has saved her life “so many times.”

When a fan tweeted at the time, “Who is Ariana’s therapist and are they accepting new clients?” Ariana candidly responded, “This is funny as f–k but in all honesty therapy has saved my life so many times. If you’re afraid to ask for help, don’t be. You don’t have to be in constant pain and you can process trauma. I’ve got a lot of work to do but it’s a start to even be aware that it’s possible.”

In May, a.k.a. Mental Health Awareness Month, Ari also went on social media to lend her voice to the cause, sharing information, resources and hotlines. She also encouraged fans to “end the stigma around mental health and normalize asking for help”.

“We’ve got to commit to making this time as healthy, peaceful and beautiful as possible,” she wrote. “The work is so hard but we are capable and worth it.”
