Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may be in the middle of getting divorced, but Kim has repeatedly shown that she continues to support her estranged husband’s endeavors – from birthday greetings to promoting Yeezys and, more recently, attending his listening events for his upcoming album. And their latest reunion has fans wondering where KimYe actually stand now – especially after they seemingly recreated their wedding during the finale of Thursday’s (August 26) Donda listening event in Chicago.
The event, which was also livestreamed, was filled with surprising twists – with Ye bringing out unconventional guests like DaBaby and Marilyn Manson.
As for the finale, it started out with Ye lighting himself on fire and walking around the stage in flames. After extinguishing the fire, a woman who looked very much like Kim joined him onstage – wearing a white wedding gown with a long veil, which obscured a clear view of her face. Then, they had a faux wedding onstage – with traditional wedding music blasting from the speakers and everything.
Fans have been all over Twitter with their reactions.
“The way Kanye smiling it’s gotta be Kim bro look at him!!!!!” one fan wrote.
“Did Kanye and Kim just get back together? This event is nuts lol,” another tweeted.
“Kim and Kanye are going to make me cry I’ll be brave I’ll be vulnerable,” a fan shared.
“So did he set himself on fire to get rid of his sins and became a new man with @KimKardashian?!” another person asked.
Kim’s sisters Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner shared photos and videos from the event on Instagram Stories – including closeups of the “bride.”
Khloe also tweeted: “Damn…… I’ve never seen anything this sick!!!!!”
According to TMZ, the woman in the wedding gown is Kim. However, the outlet reports that the estranged couple are NOT back together.
Just earlier this week, a source told People, “Kim and Kanye have a friendly relationship. It’s always been important to Kim to have a good relationship with Kanye. They are not getting back together though.”
“Kim still appreciates Kanye’s business advice and guidance,” the source noted. “She is happy that they can hang out.”
Kim and Kanye were together for almost a decade – they began dating in 2012 and tied the knot in 2014. Kim filed for divorce from Kanye in February of this year, citing “irreconcilable differences.” She also requested joint legal and physical custody their four children – eight-year-old North, five-year-old Saint, three-year-old Chicago, and two-year-old Psalm.
Despite a reportedly rocky first few weeks post-split, the two have since been spotted spending family days with their children. Kim was also in attendance with their kids during Ye’s previous two listening events for Donda in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
“For a long time, Kanye was very upset and disappointed that Kim filed for divorce. She understood why and gave him space,” the source continued, adding they are now “able to make amicable decisions that benefit the kids.”
Following the divorce filing, Kanye was briefly linked with model Irina Shayk – they spent his 44th birthday together in France. However, earlier this week, multiple outlets report that things have since fizzled out.
“Kanye and Irina are over, but they never really started, there’s nothing going on there,” one source told Us Weekly.
“It was never a serious thing that took off,” another source told People.
