
Angela Bassett is looking back on one of the biggest disappointments of her career—losing the Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2023.
The 66-year-old actress was nominated for her powerful role as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but the award ultimately went to Jamie Lee Curtis.
In a recent Town & Country interview, Angela reflected on the moment she learned she had lost. “I found it interesting,” she said. “Interesting that I wouldn’t be allowed to be disappointed at an outcome where I thought I was deserving.”
Angela didn’t hold back when discussing her dedication to the craft. “I have put in: put in the time, put in good work over time. I didn’t think that was a gift. I thought it was a given.”
Despite the loss, Angela remains a celebrated powerhouse in Hollywood, proving that true talent always stands the test of time.
