Andrew Garfield is hitting the pause button on his busy, blooming career.

Following a whirlwind year of huge projects and award nominations, the 38-year-old actor is planning on taking a break. He revealed his decision to Variety, saying:

“I’m gonna rest for a little bit.”

He offered a bit on insight as to why he is choosing to step away from the limelight for a while, sharing:

“I need to kind of recalibrate and reconsider what I want to do next and who I want to be and just be a bit of a person for a while.”

Andrew’s decision to take a break comes amid the debut of his latest leading project Under The Banner of Heaven, an FX on Hulu series. Prior to his new show, Andrew spent much of the beginning of 2022 making the award show rounds as he earned another Academy Award nomination and won his first Golden Globe Award among many other nods for his performance in Tick, Tick… Boom!

Just before all that, he got back into his Spider-Man suit for a surprise role in Spider-Man: No Way Home and also starred opposite Jessica Chastain in The Eyes Of Tammy Faye.

Looking back at the whirlwind awards season he just went through, he told Variety:

“That award season stuff is so fun and you get to hang out with people that you love and admire.”

He also said that it was a chance to be a part of a “privileged” conversation, after which he went on to say:

“But now, I need to just be a bit ordinary for awhile.”
