Amanda Bynes is officially back online—but not in the way you might think. The former child star just launched an OnlyFans account, but she’s setting the record straight right from the start: it’s not what you think.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Amanda shared a message to her followers via her Stories, revealing she’s joined the subscription platform made famous by its NSFW content. But in true Amanda fashion, she’s doing it on her own terms.
“I’m on onlyfans now! Disclaimer: I’m doing onlyfans to chat with my fans through dm’s. I won’t be posting any sleazy content,” she wrote. “Excited to join.”
It’s a surprising yet strangely on-brand move for the 39-year-old, who’s spent the last few years mostly out of the spotlight. Although OnlyFans is often associated with adult content, it has also become a space for celebrities and creators to engage directly with fans, offer exclusive access, and sometimes even rebrand themselves. From Bella Thorne to Drea de Matteo, stars have been using the platform for everything from modeling to behind-the-scenes peeks—so Amanda’s approach to connecting with fans through DMs feels refreshingly tame.
Amanda’s return to a public-facing platform comes after a few tentative steps back into the creative space. In late 2023, she dipped her toe into the podcasting world with a new show co-hosted by her friend, biochemist Paul Sieminski. The show launched with tattoo artist Dahlia Moth as their first guest but ultimately wrapped after just one episode. At the time, Amanda had ambitious hopes for the show’s future.
She said the plan was to “interview our friends, and then we’re hoping to take it mainstream and interview celebrities and artists.”
Still, that project fizzled out quickly, and Amanda hasn’t been heavily involved in public projects since. In fact, her last on-screen credit dates back to 2010’s Easy A. Before that, she was a teen queen with credits like The Amanda Show, What a Girl Wants, and Hairspray cementing her place in early-2000s pop culture.
Of course, Amanda’s personal life has often overshadowed her work. In 2013, she experienced a very public breakdown, which included erratic behavior, multiple legal issues, and involuntary psychiatric holds. Her mother was granted conservatorship that same year, which remained in place until 2022.
Unfortunately, 2023 brought more concern for Amanda’s wellbeing. She was reportedly placed on another 72-hour psychiatric hold after pulling out of a planned appearance at 90s Con, a pop culture convention that was meant to be one of her big returns to the spotlight.
Now, with this new chapter on OnlyFans, Amanda seems to be reclaiming her image—on her own terms and with her own boundaries.
And while this may not be the traditional Hollywood comeback fans hoped for, it is a form of connection. She’s not here to shock. She just wants to talk.
