Hollywood’s biggest stars gathered in Los Angeles on Feb. 23 for the 31st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, with Kristen Bell leading the night as host. Known for her wit and charm, Bell kicked off the show with a playful twist on her famous “Frozen” hit, transforming “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” into the perfectly fitting “Do You Want to Be an Actor?”
A montage followed, showcasing nominees in some of their earliest roles—cue adorable clips of Selena Gomez in Barney & Friends and Colin Farrell in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment as “unnamed man.” Bell, who was up for an award herself for Nobody Wants This, also delighted fans by briefly reprising her role as the voice of Gossip Girl alongside Gossip Girl alum Leighton Meester.
The night’s biggest wins included Timothée Chalamet taking home the award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. Demi Moore also had a major moment, winning outstanding performance by a female actor in a leading role for her work in The Substance.
Kieran Culkin, who has been sweeping awards season, added another trophy to his collection, winning for his supporting role in A Real Pain, Jesse Eisenberg’s latest directorial effort. True to form, Culkin delivered a hilariously candid speech, complete with a cheeky jab at Adrien Brody and a self-imposed countdown to wrap things up.
On the television side, FX’s Shōgun dominated the night with four wins, proving its status as a standout of the season. Meanwhile, Only Murders in the Building—featuring the ever-charming trio of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez—secured two wins.
With memorable performances, heartfelt speeches, and a dose of nostalgia, the 2025 SAG Awards once again proved to be a night to remember.
