The People’s Choice Country Awards made its grand debut on Thursday night (September 28).
The awards show, which is an offshoot of the People’s Choice Awards, was held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. It was hosted by Little Big Town.
The show started its live broadcast at 8pm ET/PT, and aired simultaneously on NBC and Peacock. During the evening, honorary awards were presented, including the Country Music Icon Award, which was presented by Blake Shelton to Toby Keith.
The full list of nominees was unveiled back in August, with country superstars Morgan Waller, Lainey Wilson, and Luke Combs dominating the nominations. Also among the top contenders were Kane Brown and Jelly Roll.
Jelly Roll was the night’s biggest winner, taking home six prizes at the inaugural ceremony including male artist of the year and new artist of the year.
